Multistore — synchronization exceptions
Multi-store — synchronization exceptions
Exceptions are the fields a sub-store can manage itself. Everything you check here will not be sent down from the main store when the product is updated — and that is also what the sub-store is allowed to edit.
You can find the list under Settings → Multi-store, select a sub-store, the tab Exceptions
How exceptions work
Check a field, and the main store will stop overwriting it in this sub-store.
💡 New products receive data the first time
A new product or category also receives the exempted fields when it is synchronized for the first time. The exception applies to subsequent updates. The sub-store thus gets a starting value to work with instead of an empty field.
Exceptions do two things simultaneously, and it's easy to forget the second:
1. The field is no longer overwritten downwards.
2. The field becomes editable in the sub-store. Fields that are synchronized are locked in the product form there, precisely so that no one puts effort into something that will be overwritten at the next synchronization.
If you want a sub-store to have its own prices, descriptions, or inventory, this is where you set it up.

Locked checkboxes
If Synchronize inventory changes is enabled for the store, the checkbox for inventory quantity is locked. The two would contradict each other: one stating that the inventory should be kept the same, the other that the sub-store manages it itself. Disable inventory synchronization first if you want the store to have its own inventory.
The panel indicates which setting locks the field, right next to the checkbox.
Simple and advanced mode
The checkbox list covers what most people need. Behind Advanced mode is the same setup as pure JSON, for cases the list does not cover.
⚠️ Some settings lock you into advanced mode
If the setup contains something the simple list cannot display — a table without a checkbox, or a rule that includes instead of excludes — advanced mode opens automatically, and you cannot switch back. The panel names what it failed to interpret. If you switch back, that rule would be lost upon next save.
If you are unsure what is included in advanced mode, contact support before making any changes there.
