What is abandoned cart and how to set it up?
Approximately 67% of all shopping carts are abandoned before the purchase is completed. The abandoned cart feature can help you recover many of those lost sales. Read on to learn how to get started.
What is abandoned cart?
Abandoned cart is a feature that automatically follows up with customers who have added items to their cart without completing the purchase. With this solution, you can easily create an email that is automatically sent to all customers who abandon their cart. You can decide when the email should be sent, but according to our data, the default setting is sufficient.
Increase your order value with minimal effort
In addition to reminding customers about the products they left behind, you can also include a display of other products that are relevant to the products the customer already has in their cart.
Measure the effect
In the control panel, you will have access to statistics for each email. You can see how many people have opened, clicked, the revenue, and the number of completed transactions.
Increase the chances of conversion through multiple emails
To increase the chance of conversion, you can send another follow-up to customers who do not complete the purchase after the first email is sent. This can automatically be sent a few days after the first email and, for example, include a discount code of 10% to increase the desire to purchase. However, it is important not to send too many emails, as this can be perceived as spam. The procedure is described later in the article.
Get started with abandoned cart
Abandoned cart is easy to get started with. See the procedure below.
Create the email to be sent
To create the flow, you must first ensure that you have the email(s) you want to send to customers via this flow. By creating the email first, it will be easier to create the flow afterward.
Open Flow > Email > Overview > Plus sign to create an email
Select the template you want to use as a starting point
Click Save and continue
Give the email a descriptive name so you can easily find it when the flow is created.
Create the flow to send the email
Once the email is created, you can start sending the email via a flow. See how the flow is set up.
Create a new flow via Flow > Overview > Plus sign
Select Abandoned cart and which email template you want to use
Give the flow a descriptive name so you can easily find it in the overview
Select how many emails to send
When setting up the flow, select how many emails to send. We recommend choosing between the following.
- Flow that sends 1 email with a reminder
- Flow that sends 2 emails, where the second one may contain a discount code.
Alternative 1: Flow that sends 1 email to the customer
In the example below, the flow is not triggered multiple times, and the only emails sent are those you have entered in the flow.
Alternative 2: Flow that sends 2 emails to the customer
If you want to send more emails to the customer, it may be a good idea to offer the customer an incentive to complete the purchase. This can be, for example, a discount code of an optional percentage, for example, 10%.
In the example below, two emails are sent to the customer. The first after 6 hours and the second after 24 hours (if the customer has not completed the purchase)
