# Overview and store selector

The Multi-store panel is where you control how your main store and sub-stores are connected: what is synchronized, what each sub-store gets to keep itself, and which additional features are enabled for each individual store.

You can find it under **Settings → Multi-store**

> **💡 Requires product synchronization**
> The page is only available in stores that have Product synchronization enabled. If the extension is off, the menu item is not displayed.

## Main store and sub-store

A multi-store setup consists of one main store and one or more sub-stores. The main store owns the product range and sends data downwards. The sub-stores receive.

All setup is done from the main store. If you log in to a sub-store and open Multi-store, you will get a read-only view with the message *«Multi-store is configured from the main store. This store synchronizes from…»*. This is intentional: the settings describe the main store–sub-store pair, and the pair is owned by the main store.

## The store selector

On the left side of the page is the list of stores.

| Entry | What you get |
| --- | --- |
| **Main store** (top) | The settings belonging to the main store itself. No tabs — a single page |
| **Sub-stores** | One entry per sub-store. If you select one, you will get the tabs below |

The main store is selected when you open the page.

## The tabs for a sub-store

| Tab | What it controls |
| --- | --- |
| **Settings** | What is synchronized to this sub-store, and in which direction |
| **Exceptions** | Which fields the sub-store retains itself and never gets overwritten |
| **Modules** | Two on/off switches that apply to this sub-store |
| **Tools** | Manual synchronization, collective orders, and customer recovery |
| **Tests** | Compares data between stores and finds discrepancies |

Tools and Tests are only visible to Mystore employees. Both span across all stores in the group, and one writes data.

## Saving

Saving applies to the sub-store you are currently in. If you change something in one store and save, you do not affect the sister stores.

Some settings are linked. If you turn on a setting that requires another, the other will be turned on automatically — and if you turn off a setting that others depend on, they will follow. The panel shows what happens right below the switch before you save. See **Multi-store — settings per sub-store** for the entire dependency map.

## If the store is running legacy multi-store

Stores still running the old synchronizer will receive a full-page message: *"This store is running legacy multistore. Upgrade to the latest version — contact support for more information."* The panel is not available until the store is upgraded.

The reason is that the settings on this page describe the new synchronizer. Against the old one, most of them mean nothing.

The upgrade is performed by Mystore. Contact support, and they will go through the stores and initiate it.

> **⚠️ All stores in the group are upgraded together**
> The upgrade checks each store before anything is written, and stops if one of them is in an inconsistent state. That is why it cannot be run per store.

## What is actually synchronized?

The list of fields on products, categories, and manufacturers that can be synchronized is in the article **Product Synchronization**. This article is about where you turn it off and on.
